OCEAN
LEARNING HUB

SEYCHELLES

Following the Swim for the Ocean – Seychelles project, a new place for encounter, education, and responsibility is being created on the main island of Mahé: the Blue Heart Ocean Learning Hub. Together with our local partner organization, The Voice of the Ocean, we are developing a permanent station that will provide children, young people, and school groups with direct access to the ocean. The building is located opposite the island's largest school and directly adjacent to a secure harbor area – a unique location that combines education, practical experience, and marine conservation.

The Ocean Learning Hub is intended to be a place where young people not only learn about the ocean theoretically, but also experience, understand and learn to protect it.

Planned activities include educational programs for school classes, workshops, project days, and excursions to the coastal and marine environment. Looking ahead, the location also offers the possibility of operating a boat and conducting educational and research voyages. The project's focus fully aligns with the purpose of theBlueHeart: to connect people – especially the next generation – emotionally and practically with the sea and to foster a sense of responsibility. Education, conservation, and a lived relationship with the ocean are central to the project.
The building is currently being renovated by our local partners. To ensure the Ocean Learning Hub's long-term usability, investments in infrastructure, equipment, and educational applications are necessary. The estimated costs for the renovation and setup range between 50.000 and 100.000 Euro.

With this project, we are creating a permanent anchor point for marine conservation, education and international cooperation – right where young people pass by every day and where the ocean is part of their lives.

Here's how you can help:

Support the Ocean Learning Hub with monetary or in-kind donations – for renovations, equipment, and educational programs. Every bit of help brings children and the ocean a little closer together.
