SWIM FOR THE OCEAN
CUBA
One of the most protected coral reefs in the world
For 2026, we are planning an independent film and education project in Cuba as part of our international initiative "Swim for the Ocean". The project is a standalone component of the educational film project "Generation Ocean" and is aimed at students in grades 5 to 9 in German-speaking countries.
The number of sharks & large fish is 10 times higher than in neighboring unprotected reefs.
The focus is on a swim along the Cuban coral reef, one of the best-preserved reef systems in the world. It's not about athletic performance or records. André isn't swimming to prove anything, but to approach a unique ecosystem with respect, tranquility, and attentiveness.

In the film, André is not the athlete, but the observer and narrator – a “Man of the Ocean” who shows what needs protecting and why it is worthwhile to take responsibility for the sea.
The film takes a positive, pragmatic approach. It demonstrates that marine conservation works: political frameworks, a conscious use of resources, and restraint in intervening in nature measurably contribute to the preservation of ecosystems. Cuba serves as an example of a particular approach to the sea – not as a critique, but as an encouraging example.
The project will continue beyond 2026. Depending on its success, an international free release is also planned. We will keep you updated on progress, etc., via social media and here.
